The University of Miami Hospital just notified patients that it subjected them to a data breach. Specifically, university employees “inappropriately accessed” patients’ personal information and may have sold the personal information to professional identity thieves. The breach appears to have been longstanding, with personal data having been stolen from October of 2010 until July of 2012.
Disclosure of personal information is unlawful, and Meiselman, Packman, Carton & Eberz, P.C. is proud to have brought lawsuits on behalf of millions of data breach victims. The University of Miami data breach is an especially dangerous breach, as it appears that patients’ personal data has been sold directly to criminals.
If you received treatment at the University of Miami Hospital, and you believe your information was breached, please contact us immediately to discuss your legal rights.
