The census bureau recently reported that nearly 50 million Americans live in poverty. Several states are working to combat this trend by raising their states’ minimum wage. For example, it appears likely that New York and New Jersey will raise the minimum wage in 2013. These raises are great in theory, but it is important that companies actually comply with the law.
As states raise the minimum wage, companies are required to simultaneously raise the pay of their minimum wage employees. If you work at a minimum wage job and your employer fails to bring your wage up to any new minimum in your state, please contact us to discuss your legal options.
