Yahoo is expected to shortly confirm a massive data breach, affecting several hundred million user accounts. The data breach became known in August when a hacker named “Peace” offered to sell on a website credentials of 200 million Yahoo users from 2012 for $1,800. The data allegedly included names, passwords and personal information like birth dates and email addresses. At the time discovered, Yahoo did not issue a password reset pending investigation. It is now expected to issue one when it confirms the data breach.
Data breach can result in identity theft and fraud and financial harm to victims. FBFG lawyers are experienced in prosecuting class actions on behalf of data breach victims. For example, FBFG lawyers recently secured a “record-setting” settlement in a data breach case. See https://classaction4.wpengine.com/press/mar-16-2016-white-plains-daily-voice.
