Your personal credit and debit card information may have been compromised if you stayed or dined at an InterContinental Hotel Group property between September 2016 and December 2016. Some InterContinental Group hotel franchises include the Candlewood Suites, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, InterContinental and The Willard.
Finkelstein, Blankinship, Frei-Pearson & Garber, LLP is investigating InterContinental Hotels Group’s massive data breach. In a statement, the company admitted that malware was installed on several of the Group’s payment systems within their hotels’ restaurants and bars. This breach compromised information connected to customers’ credit and debit cards including 16-digit payment card numbers, verifications codes, expiration dates, and customers’ names. The company initially released the names of their 12 affected locations, however, the company recently revealed information showing that breach may have affected closer to 1,000 locations. InterContinental Hotels Group has provided a listing of the properties in question, however, their investigation is ongoing.
