GOSHEN, NY (Record Online) – A class-action lawsuit has been filed against the operators of Sapphire Nursing at Meadow Hill, claiming they cut so much staff after buying the 190-bed nursing home that residents’ calls for help go unanswered and some lie “in their own fecal matter and urine for hours at a time.”
The case was filed in state Supreme Court in Goshen on June 25 by a Newburgh resident whose mother lived at the facility for 11 months until her death at age 79 in October 2018. She is represented by a White Plains law firm that brought a similar suit last year against a Goshen nursing home owned by a business group that bought both of those homes and two others in Dutchess County from Elant in September 2017.
