The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit against Uber Technologies, Inc., for allegedly engaging in deceptive billing and cancellation practices related to its Uber One subscription service. The FTC claims that Uber enrolled consumers in their Uber One subscription service, charged them without their consent, failed to deliver promised savings, and made it difficult for users to cancel the service despite advertising a “cancel anytime” policy.

The FTC claims that Uber’s practices violate the FTC Act and the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act (ROSCA). These laws require online retailers to clearly disclose the terms of their services, obtain consumers’ consent before charging them, and provide a simple way to cancel recurring subscriptions.

Attorneys at Finkelstein, Blankinship, Frei-Pearson & Garber, LLP have successfully recovered millions of dollars on behalf of consumers aggrieved by deceptive company practices.
