Black & Decker Sonic Pest Control Devices May Not Work As Promised

No matter how clean people keep their homes, sometimes pests invade.  Whether it is roaches from the neighbors or mice from the nearby field, having pests in the house can be unnerving.  Unfortunately, conventional means of pest removal can be less than ideal.  For families with children and pets, poison is a dangerous option, and mice traps can be messy and difficult to effectively place and bait.  Commercial services can be effective, but are often quite expensive.  Some companies seek to take advantage of consumers’ desire to rid their homes of pests without spending a fortune or endangering their families by offering alternative methods, including so-called ultrasonic pest devices.

For example, Black & Decker offers a variety of devices that purport to emit ultrasonic noises as “a non-toxic way to repel pests in your home.”  Unfortunately, there appears to be no scientific or reliable support for the claim that ultrasonic sounds are an effective pest control device.  In fact, numerous studies have demonstrated that mice and roaches are unaffected by ultrasonic noise.  Thus, it appears that Black & Decker’s claims may be deceptive.

We are investigating potential consumer claims against Black & Decker, as well as other manufacturers of ultrasonic pest control devices.  If you or someone you know purchased a sonic pest control device, please contact us to discuss your legal options.
