Women & Infants Hospital Privacy Breach

It was recently revealed that unencrypted backup tapes containing ultrasound images from ambulatory sites are missing. The information on the unencrypted backup tapes was from Providence, Rhode Island between 1993 and 1997 and New Bedford, Massachusetts between 2002 and 2007. The information on these unencrypted backup tapes include patient names, dates of birth, dates of exams, physicians’ names, and patient ultrasound images.

Importantly, some current and former patients also had their Social Security numbers exposed. Disclosure of personal information such as social security information is unlawful, and we have brought lawsuits on behalf of victims of such disclosures in the TRICARE/SAIC, Zappos, Sutter Health and Saint Joseph data breaches. If you were a patient of the Women & Infants Hospital between the dates discussed above, and you believe your rights may have been violated, please contact us immediately to discuss your legal options.
