Is The Advertised MPG For Your Car Accurate?

As gas prices remain high, many consumers look for fuel efficient cars, particularly hybrids.  In response, nearly every major car maker has claimed that it gets high miles per gallon.  Unfortunately, according to Consumer Reports, those mpg claims may be misleading.

Consumer Reports did its own tests, and found that the following cars do not get the advertised MPG:  the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, the Ford C-Max hybrid, the Ford Fusion Hybrid, the Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid, the Toyota Prius C, the Toyota Prius, the Honda Civic Hybrid, the InfinitiM35h, the Lexus Es 300h, the Toyota Avalon Hybrid, the Buck La Cross (eAssist), the Honda Insight, the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and the Lexus RX 450h.

For example, according to Consumer Reports, Lincoln’s MKZ Hybrid overstates its MPG by 11 miles per gallon.  Given the high price of gas, this results in hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in unexpected gas payments every year.  Our team is actively investigating a potential class action against these car companies for overstating their cars’ estimated mpg.  If you or someone you know purchased one of the above-listed cars, please contact us to discuss your legal options.
