Over 50 Elderly People Have Died Due To Covid-19 At Kings Harbor Multicare Center

Finkelstein, Blankinship, Frei-Pearson & Garber (“FBFG”) is proud to use reform class actions to improve conditions in unsafe nursing homes.  In 2015, Mary Gibbs and Levonia McCray brought a reform class action to fix Kings Harbor Multicare Center — one of the most unsafe nursing homes in New York State.*  FBFG is proud to represent Ms. Gibbs and Mr. McCray because Kings Harbor desperately needed reform.  Kings Harbor has been dangerously understaffed for years and the residents in the home have been subjected to unsafe conditions.  Unfortunately, instead of agreeing to settle, which would require Kings Harbor to hire more staff and make the nursing home safe, Kings Harbor has engaged in scorched earth litigation for five years.  By refusing to fix conditions and choosing to litigate, Kings Harbor has continued to subject its residents to unsafe conditions.

Unsafe conditions in Kings Harbor have had especially tragic consequences in the time of COVID-19.  45 people have died due to COVID-19 in Kings Harbor (link:  https://www.law.com/newyorklawjournal/2020/04/23/trapped-in-litigation-lawsuit-warned-of-staffing-shortfalls-at-bronx-nursing-home-before-covid-19-wave/).  Each of these deaths is a horrible tragedy.  But tragedy in Kings Harbor is inevitable due to understaffing and unsafe conditions.

We need your help to fix Kings Harbor and prevent further harm to its residents.  Specifically, we need witnesses who can tell us about conditions inside the home so that we can take the reform class action to trial quickly and make things better for Kings Harbor’s residents.  If you, or a loved one, know about conditions in Kings Harbor (either as a resident, visitor, or a worker), please contact us immediately.  All inquiries are confidential.
