New Creation Counseling Center in Ohio, data breach with over 24,000 patients

If you have been a patient at New Creation Counseling Center in Tipp City, Ohio, you may have been negatively affected by a data breach of the IT systems that contains patient and employee information. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, there were 24,029 individuals affected by this breach.

The allegedly exposed information includes “names, telephone numbers, address, email, birth dates, social security numbers, health insurance information, intake forms, medical releases, and treatment records.” The Center was breached on February 13, 2022.

Patients were likely required to share their personal and sensitive information in order to receive their healthcare from New Creations Counseling Center. In turn, this healthcare institution owes a duty to protect this information. However, this healthcare provider failed to honor this duty when it allegedly allowed unauthorized users to access the information in these sensitive files.

During this time, patients’ sensitive information has likely been exposed to cybercriminals and may soon be, it not already, fraudulently used. Attorneys at Finkelstein, Blankinship, Frei-Pearson & Garber, LLP have successfully recovered millions of dollars on behalf of data breach victims.
