Recall Of EzriCare Artificial Tears Because of Possible Bacterial Contamination Which Could Result In Death

The FDA warns consumers to stop using EzriCare Artificial Tears or Delsam Pharma’s Artificial Tears due to possible bacterial contamination. Using the contamination tears increases the risk of eye infection, which could lead to permanent blindness or death.

As of January 2023, 55 patients who have used artificial tears have developed an infection. Those affected have been hospitalized, suffered permanent vision loss from the infection, and one person has died.

Global Pharma Healthcare is voluntarily recalling the products at issue. The products being recalled are Ezricare NDC 79503-0101-15, UPC 3 79503 101157; and Delsam Pharma’s NDC 72570-121-15, UPC -72570-0121-15
