The FDA sent warning letters to Dr Green Mom LLC and Noble Elements LLC for improperly marketing colloidal silver as being effective against several viruses. Colloidal silver is being marketed to treat viruses including monkeypox, herpes, RVS, Covid, and viruses that cause upper respiratory tract infections. The FDA banned the use of colloidal silver in the use of over-the-counter drug. The FDA notes that products that are being marketed for disease conditions are misbranded. “The FDA is not aware of any substantial scientific evidence that supports the use of OTC colloidal silver ingredients or silver salts for these disease conditions.”

Likewise, Dr Green Mom LLC misbranded its colloidal silver because it is marketed to treat diseases that require supervision by a physician. Its website markets colloidal silver as being effective against disease including Covid. It is a misbranded drug because it has not been approved by the FDA. Additionally, colloidal silver has been directed to kids. This is very concerning as the FDA did not evaluate the safety and effectiveness of this product in children. Marketing an unevaluated drug can be extremely dangerous, especially when marketed to treat children.
