Security Guards May Be Victimized By Unfair Labor Practices

All Americans are entitled to be paid for all of the time that they work; and if you work over 40 hours a week, you are entitled to payment for time and a half.  Our wage and hour protections apply to security guards, who are required to put their lives on the line every day.  Unfortunately, we have learned that many security companies, including Guardsmark, pay their employees for 8 hours of work per day, but require their employees to come to work 15-30 minutes before the start (or at the end) of their shift without paying them for that pre-shift time.

Over the course of a year, this unpaid required time amounts to a significant loss of income for hard working security guards. Failure to reimburse employees for unpaid time at the start or end of a job may violate federal and state wage and hour laws.  If you believe you are not being paid for time at the beginning or end of your shift, please contact us immediately to discuss your legal options.
