Aquafina “Pure Water” May Contain Significant Plastic Contaminants

If you bought Aquafina on the representation that it is “pure water,” you
may have a claim against PepsiCo, Inc., for false advertising.  PepsiCo
labels and markets Aquafina, its bottled water brand, as “pure water.”  New
research by Orb Media, a non-profit journalism organization, shows that
Aquafina and other leading bottled water brands are contaminated with
microscopic plastic particles, including polypropylene, nylon, and
polyethylene terephthalate (PET).  Tests conducted at the SUNY-Fredonia on
250 bottles from 11 brands, including Aquafina, reveal a global average of
10.4 plastic particles per liter for plastic particles in the 100 micron, or
0.10 millimeter size range, and a much greater number of about 314.6
particles per liter for even smaller particles that are likely plastic.  If
you bought Aquafina to drink “pure water,” please contact our firm to
discuss your legal options. We have successfully prosecuted false
advertising claims on behalf of consumers.
