Attorney for James Square requests pending class action lawsuit gets dismissed

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) – Attorneys for several previous owners of the James Square Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre asked a State Supreme Court Judge to put the case on hold pending the results of a New York State Attorney General’s investigation.

Hon. Anthony Paris did not grant the request, so the case will move forward, but he will hear the request in the future.

It was the primary decision made in a hearing Wednesday that resulted in the judge scolding the attorneys on both sides of the case for scheduling disagreements and legal procedure issues.

The class action attorney out of New York City hopes the case is certified as class action sometime this year, so he will be able to represent hundreds of former and current residents.  Read more here.
